This is All Natural, Non-GMO, Pasture raised Pork. All of our pork is processed in A USDA-approved facility locally to our small family-owned farm. The Mangalista breed originates from Hungary and was seen as a delicacy for royalty in the early 1800s. These royal breed pigs from Hungary are known for their buttery & exquisite fat. This is partly due to the fact they need a much longer time raising. We follow along with the old-world traditions of Mangalitsa hog rearing by raising them for a minimum of 15 months in the outdoors and pastures. Compared to most domestic pork which is bred to be grown quickly and has lean meat, our Mangalitsa hogs have a marbled and dark amber colored meat. The fat from this breed is much easier to digest due to its melting temperature being lower than the human body temperature and is rich in vitamins and nutrients that support a healthy heart.
